Artichoke has been used in support of human health since the beginning of the 20th century, primarily to assist with digestion. Historically used as a tea, artichoke is now preferred in the form of standardised extracts for consistent, more predictable results. Research on standardised artichoke extract has focused on the constituent caffeoylquinic acid and its ability to support bile production in the liver. Optimal bile production assists the body with fat metabolism, which in turn aids the digestion process.
